Default question: mountain driving in Vermont in late May?

Hi everyone, i might be driving in (south to north) vermont next year
during the memorial day weekend and i am considering a mini road trip
in the state (have about a full day). i don't want to blast through
the state on I-89, and i am thinking of taking VT-100 (and maybe
VT-125 for a small detour). i am wondering what the conditions will be
like in late May? i know it depends, but are these roads likely to be
still snowy or muddy? and will the scenery be more winter-like or
summer-like? thanks.

If it's cold then it may snow and the road may turn muddy, and the
scenery will be winter like. If it's warm then the weather would be
nice, unless it gets really hot then it's not so nice.

Yes I can predict the weather one year from now.
