Costa Cruise Ships?
I'm planning on a cruise from Florida and have never been on a Costa ship.
How do they compare to other cruise lines? Someone told me that because it's an Italian ship, there's lots of smoking on board.. Is that true? That might turn me against going on that cruise line. Any information is greatly appreciated. Helen |

The ship was pretty but the food was abominable and the entertainment was embarrassing. Never on them again. and of course I hate smokers. |

Helen If you can wait until January 17th, I probably will be on the Fortuna the 10th through the 17th and I'll collect and answer any questions I can, at least about that ship. Haven't cleared all hurdles on fare yet (they have the money but I don't have confirmation yet because of the holidays.) |

Costa Cruise Ships?
We're planning on traveling the first week in April, but want to make plans
before we go to Florida.. Not sure about the smoking bit now, as I hate being around smokers. This coming from someone who smoked for years. Now can't stand the smell of it. You could be just starting your meal, and people at a table 20 inches away could be getting their coffee and lighting up. It was pretty disgusting. Many ships that are oriented more toward a US clientele (e.g. Celebrity and Princess) are getting more restrictive. You might want to stick with those. --Tom |

I figured that for the amount of money for our now confirmed reservations that we paid, we can probably stick out the smoke, if any, for one week. I need the experience on this line to be able to talk to prospective clients. Don't want to go on them as a FAM trip but will be looking around a lot and creating a log. |

At least if you went that way, if you were disappointed you wouldn't be out as much bucks as if you went regular. -- ________ To email me, Edit "blog" from my email address. Brian M. If you are on the trip and being "treated" like a TA then things do change as I have found on a few of the previous ones I have been on. Now as a full fare paying customer I can still deduct costs and I do learn a lot more about the line and especially how the employees treat the paying customer. Besides, I'm not really paying a lot for this trip and I am going to get full commission. The date I am leaving port is the date that Costa has an "open house" for TAs on the Fortuna, so I expect to see a lot of them boarding and leaving the day I embark. |

Regents has an almost decent smoking policy. There are about four
places on the ship where one can smoke - The Mariner Lounge, The Casino bar (not at the tables), starboard pool deck and one aft open deck. My only complaint with their policy was that I couldn't stand out on my balcony and have a cigaretter with my morning coffee. I was amused by Rosaly's statement that, "of course, I hate smokers." That means that she hates around 90,000,000 American citizens and only God knows how many Europeans and Asians. That's a lot of hatred to pack around :-) |
