I don't remember Reagan's polling numbers but I don't remember them
being that low. However, Reagan was a conservative leading a center
right government. Obama is a liberal leading a center right country.

The party of tax scofflaws like McCain and Palin and
Joe the Plumber is complaining about others owing taxes?

As opposed to the Democrats who have been tax cheats and tax avoiders?

Reagan inherited an economy on the downhill with unemployment that
eventually was more than it is now. Of course only Democrats are
allowed to blame the previous administration.

And only Republicans are allowed to blame administrations
that don't even exist yet.

"The Obama recession is in full swing, ladies and
gentlemen. Stocks are dying, which is a precursor of
things to come. This is an Obama recession. Might
turn into a depression."
Rush Limbaugh, November 6, 2008. Obama was still the
junior senator from Illinois at the time.

"As economic hardship hit American homes, Reagan's approval
rating hit rock bottom. In January 1983, it was estimated
at a dismal 35 percent."

So why are Obama's poll numbers an issue to people who
revere Reagan when his were even lower?

So both sides have tax cheats and tax avoiders. What's
your point?

Palin Ordered To Pay Back Taxes
February 18, 2009 (AP)

Alaska officials on Wednesday ruled that Alaska governor
and former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin must
pay back taxes to the IRS. The exact amount the governor
must pay is not yet known, but the Associated Press
estimates she owes taxes on more than $17,000 in per-diem
expenses.

illegal activity... Congress has a 22% approval...Does that tell you
anything? As for his speeches which are read from his teleprompter;
they are of no substance. He is still in campaign mode.

And today it's down to 42%.

After eight years of "polls don't matter" suddenly
conservatives are concerned about polls. Of course, these
are the same people who spent eight years believing that
"deficits don't matter". What changed?

I answered that. Reagan's policies took a while to implement but were
accepted by the majority of Americans. Obama's policies are being
forced through and are unpopular.

Just thought I'd provide a little perspective.

"Deficits don't matter"

there were a number of people, including me, who were not happy with
the deficits. however, took bad deficits and made them horrendous.
Bush's were at least somewhat sustainable for a while. Obama's aren't
and his policies are making them far worse in the future. The war in
Iraq is drawing down. Health care, et. al. will only get bigger.

Who had been expected to win the presidency for quite a while at that
point. Stock markets react to what they expect the future to be even
more than what the situation is at that time.
