NWA in-flight service is not so Welcoming!
Flew to Tokyo on early November on NWA (Northwest Airlines) and found some
female Stewardesses are like thugs. Most passengers were Japanese and usually their in flight behavior is good and polite. One passenger requested sugar and a Stewardesses replied 'I've got only Sweetener, have one). What they meant by 'I've got' is what I have at that time, they don't want to go back and refill empty supplies. Another passenger requested water, one Stewardesses with a commanding voice said 'I am on Break' (duh! If you are on Break, have a big sign on your forehead). A mother with a baby went to the serving area and requested Milk for her baby, one Stewardess with a frowned face clearly showed her displeasure over it. A mother wanted to clean up her child's seat and offered trash to a passing by Stewardesses, she jumped on her and said 'I am not collecting trash now'. I saw time to time these devilish Stewardesses were putting on makeup on their faces. I wondered my self, for what? Why does NWA employ the worst human beings on their flights? Since when the Air became so unwelcoming? |

NorthWest Airline :
Yes, they are really really bad... I have more then a million mile(combined, U.A., KAL, JAL and the hellish NWA) to cross pacific. These NWA grandmothers (a.k.a. Stewardesses ) are yelling passengers like "You, over there... Seat !".."I said, Seat down !".... I just could not believe what was happening in the mid-air over pacific... I will never ever ever fly NWA again and that was about a year ago. "Prab Perera" wrote in message ... Either no one let NW know about this, what was described was untrue, or it happened so few and far between that it wasn't a big deal. I would have imagined NW would have lost so much business on that route that they would have to shut it down if what's said kept going on and on. The fact they are still operating that route says they still must be doing something right. It's a free market. Isn't it? |

The fact they are still operating that route says they still must be doing something right. It's a free market. Isn't it? I fly NW on a regular basis, primarily domestic US and trans-Atlantic and have had great service this past year with a few minor exceptions (which were actually related to their airlink carriers and one bad codeshare flight on KLM). So far this year, I've done four trans-Atlantics with NWA which have been good (mix between Economy and World Business Class) and I have a fifth trans-Atlantic coming up just prior to New Years. I also make domestic flights with NW on a regular basis as well and the service has been fine (other than a couple of NW Airlink flights). Sure I've had a couple flights cancelled because of weather and some delays, but these things happen regardless of who you fly. With the WorldPerks FF progam, I have a 95%+ rate at first class upgrades on all my domestics as well. I'll have to admit though, over the past couple of years, I have had a couple of bad flights on NW. At the same time, I could say this about every airline I've used on a regular basis for a period of time. Steve |

The fact they are still operating that route says they still must be doing something right. It's a free market. Isn't it? It is very well known among international passengers to and from Detroit or MSP that Northwest's inflight experience on international flights is the worst compared to what you get on many European, almost all Asian and even other US carriers. It's not that NW tries to provide decent service and fails. They don't even try. The flight attendants are rude, careless and act like they are doing a favour to paying customers. Their international fleet is still one of the oldest and unexciting (no IFE, bad seats etc. on coach class). Their meal service is a joke. Most Americans haven't flown internationally, much less have flown a non-American airline and thus don't know what level of service is now standard in International Economy Class on most of them. Northwest seems content to cater to those passengers. God I wish NW managers would read these comments. Riaz I doubt if anyone affliated with NW read this. Even if they do, nothing is going to change the service as claimed. BS walks, money talks. The only thing that will bring NW's attention, if their service is really that bad, is to hit NW's pocket books (meaning people stop flying NW). Nothing else will do, I am afraid. It is a free market. |

Normally I don't get involved with these types of discussions, but thought
I'd enter a few words on NW's behalf. I've flown them many times trans-Pacific and a few times domestic, and have never had a complaint about service. It's always been efficient (although perhaps not as courteous as it could be), but they have never been rude nor have I witnessed them being rude to another passenger. Meal service was palatable, with hot towel and ice cream service also being offered. I also commend them once for holding our connecting flight for around half an hour when our plane arrived late due to a mechanical problem. (And on that flight my wife and I were using non-revenue tickets!) Every airline has a bad flight once in a while, but NWA is no worse than any other airline. Most of the time they offer efficient service...that is all I expect and all I demand of them.
