Where to buy prepaid Sim Card (not online)

Hello

I'm traveling in USA and need to get my cell phone to work cheap, it's
tri band so that's not the problem. The problem is that it costs a lot
of money to use my cell phone, because my operator is from another
country. I have been looking into buying a prepaid sim card, but as I
travel I don't have an address and can't buy it from ebay, even though
that would seem like a good solution.
So where can I buy it in a store or is there something else I cheaply
can do? I will only use the cell phone little, so a "high" price a
minute is ok.

Cingular stores (now AT&T?) have prepaid sim cards. Do a search and
find the closest store to you.

If it's just tri-band (900/1800/1900) then it won't work well in the
U.S., but your best bet with just a tri-band is to buy a prepaid SIM
from a T-Mobile store. T-Mobile prepaid is only at 1900 MHz, they don't
let you roam onto 800 MHz Cingular/AT&T towers (at least that's what
they claim, in reality they may allow some 800 MHz roaming).

If you get a Cingular/AT&T prepaid SIM card, and your phone doesn't
support 800 MHz, then you're going to have terrible coverage.

OTOH, if you have a 800/1800/1900 tri-band (very rare) then it will work
with either Cingular/AT&T or T-Mobile.

World phones are now quad-band.

It's almost certainly going to be cheaper to go to Wal-Mart and buy a
prepaid phone.
