Default Bonaire Dining Review

Good Day From Bonaire,

Last night I took friends to El Fagon, a local Columbian restaurant on
Nikkiboko Zuid (winding Sorobon Road). It is minutes from Lisa Gas and
Warehouse. There were 7 of us. We sat outside and were cared for well
by the mostly Spanish speaking wait staff.

We had two decent bottles of Merlot. We asked for a pitcher of ice
water and it was replenished twice. El Fagon features homemade sauces
including a delicious Chimichurri (parsley, garlic and olive oil), a
nice avocado sauce and pika or marinated onions. I use the two green
sauces on everything. YUMMY.

I had the shrimp in garlic sauce. It came with yucca and rice and
pasta salad. I asked for the yucca vs the potatoes. This dish was
wonderful. If you do NOT like garlic, do not eat this dish.

My table mates loved the snapper, the wahoo, the pork special and the
grilled chicken. This is a very garlic inspired menu so be forewarned.
It is healthy and wonderful.

The bill was 100.00 USD with 10% service added for 7. Of course I
tipped another 10% for great service.

I highly recommend El Fagon.

Directions from Lisa Gas on Kaya Industria. Continue past Lisa Gas on
KI to the end. Take a right and El Fagon is on the right.

who cares? I'm sure the locals were happy to take your gringo money but may
be very offended by your warnings and disclaimers in your review. Don't
expect good service on your next visit Ann.

Your re-write of the quoted material was dishonest.
The, "Well...DUH!" statement was _not_ written by Ann.

And, it's _not_ "Well...DUH!", jerk. Bonaire is, after all, a "Dutch"
island, with the "official" language being dutch, the "popular"
language being papiamentu, and much of the population speaks english.

It is obvious you never read past the first paragraph -- which probably
speaks well of your "intelligence" gathering techniques.

Do you spend your entire day poring over usenet -- looking for imagined
insults?

I didn't re-write Ann's post, merely pointed out the obvious-a Columbian
owned restaurant would have Spanish speakers. But, hey, I'll give you that
jab "nobody".

I'm not gathering intelligence. I leave that to idiots like you.

I am however curious as to why this same post is cross posted all over the
usenet and getting slammed by more people than just me. You might want to
go insult some of the other folks that have the same opinion of miss Ann as
I do.

It's in rec. diving locations because Bonaire is a dive destination.
It's here bc it's the Caribbean. It's not too difficult to figure
out..sorry this post was so stressful for some of you..eat in some
pricey boring hotel for all I care..

I care!!
I am a windsufer who happens to travel the Caribbean rather extensively
and I happen to be writing this reply from Bonaire at the moment.
Because of Ann's review we now have another restaurant to try while
we're here.
Based on your comments about the 'locals', I suspect you have never
visited Bonaire. And, FWIW, Ann happens to be well known and well liked
by everyone we've talked to here.

My wife and I have been to Bonaire three times, and have done very
well following Ann's recommendations (she's been our travel agent.)

Precisely.

Ann's post was loaded with good, useful information.

Yours provided absolutely none, and was no benefit to anyone.

Keep the gripes to yourself unless you have any actual travel
or dive information to offer.

Ann,

Thank you for the restaurant review. When I visit Bonaire I will give
it a try. I found it interesting that the gas station was called Lisa
Gas. One normally doesn't associate gas or service stations as
feminine. But that's just a minor observation. Are there any dishes
that are local to Bonaire? What would one have for breakfast? Lunch? An
on the run snack?
