How much is diving/living in sipadan then ?

Bargain basement is a bit more than US$100/day for a package including
accommodation and 3 boat dives. No boat dives on the day you arrive,
only two when you leave. It's always a package and usually costs more.
Cheapest is to book from Semporna. Booking from overseas is the most
expensive.

Not that expensive as I thought. Is is really that good there? Can you
compare with Bunaken/Manado?

I was at Sipadan in mid February and Bunaken in mid March of this year.
As is to be expected from the late rainy season/early dry season
visibility was less than wonderful. However, except for one dive at
Sipadan it was OK.

I actually liked Bunaken more. The sea life seems a bit more diverse
than at Sipadan. On the other hand, there are more turtles at Sipadan
(not that they are in short supply at Bunaken). There are also very
large schools of medium size fish. Surfacing through a school of
several hundred jacks was probably the highlight of my diving there.
I'm told that barracudas are commonly seen. However, I didn't see any.
That's probably because barracudas tend to be outside the reef zone.
You need good visibility to see them.

For diving, go to Perhentian Islands in mainland or semporna in Sabah.
Semporna is the jump-off point to Sipadan.

Sipadan is not low budget.
