Default Nepal in February

I'm planning on going to Nepal in February. What's going on w/ the Maoists?
Is Nepal safer? Is February a good time to go?

Default Nepal in February

I've just returned from Nepal after visiting Kathmantu & Pokkara with a 5
days trip hiking to Poonhill. I've seen checkpost set up at the entrance and
important buildings in the city, all cars entering a city must go through
the check point, local bus passengers need to get out of the car for a
routine security check (so traffic jam occur........ ) I think it's safe in
the city but if u go hiking, its really different. I've been told by the
travel agency in Kathmantu that I may seen the maoist in the mountain but my
guide in Pokkara tell me that everyone MUST seen them...... It's true that
I've meet them at the entrance of a village. Every hikers are ask to give
donations. They ask for 2000 rupees per person but my guide bargain with
them and I just paid 500 rupees. Although there is just one thin man with no
guns or weapons saying he is a maoist, I don't think it's good to refuse to
give a donation...... By the way the US already issuse a travel warning, I'm
afraid the problems will geting worser.....
