South Carolina beach house in October?

Six of us were planning a week in the Outer Banks (NC)
in October. The beach houses there are really large and
cheap in October. We like sprawling out and doing very
little beyond going out for crabs and beer every night.

That's now endangered by Isabel.

Any suggestions for a similar location in SC?
(It currently appears that Isabel will miss most of SC.)

Any suggestions for websites that show a lot of
vacation rentals there?

I've heard of Hilton Head, but don't know anything about it.
Any other regions we should be looking at?

The kind of place we're looking for:
Beachfront.
3 bedrooms with queen size beds, minimum,
preferably with private baths.
Large living/dining areas.
Nearby restaurants are important but night life isn't.
