It was steady and when I blocked my nostril the blood starting pouring out of the other one and out of my mouth. *Fortunately I remembered to pinch my nose, the hotel had a taxi take me to the local emergency room. I walked in still bleeding an covered with it in shirt. *I did not sit down, the nurses saw me and dragged me into a room, stuffed something my nose and taped it into place. *I was cleaned up and left. Charge?? None. Cost to me was for the taxi trip and and from the clinic. About $10 total. Socialized medicine once again. *No charge, no wait. I bled all over the hotel, but the house dog cleaned that up. Eeeeew! This was my first experience with emergency room care. I've had lots, all due to cuts, scrapes and broken bones. *Generally, I've faced no wait due to having come off a bicycle at speed and they triage me to the top. There's a hint for the young pups - if you have a bicycle accident and end up in A&E, claim to have come off at over 40km/h and they'll see to you pronto. Biggest wait was on a Friday night where there were no other patients and the doctor had buggered off for some dinner. *I'd been patched up by some paramedics and decided to bugger off home for some sleep before being stitched up at the local free clinic first thing in the morning.
