With no private island, no refigerators in cabins, no Ice skating shows,
no rock climbing walls, no mini golf, no boxing ring, no grand
promernade, no exercise prizes. no bowling alleys, no concierge clubs,
no anytime open seating dining,
etc. etc. etc. What does Carnival have?

Let's see: Dec 9, 2007 7 days, 6 islands with two of my closest
friends. We plan to hit the islands with our cameras snapping. None
of us have been to any of these islands before, we have too much
exploring to waste our time on shows or activities available in
Toronto if we want them.

Not to mention I am paying $600 USD pp for the balcony suite me and
one friend, and the other is paying just $425 USD for an A1 cabin with
portholes entirely for just herself.

Have you tried pricing the other cruise lines? Have you tried
checking the pricing for single cruising on them also?

PS. Read the food reviews also.

Hi Jerry,

FWIW, some Carnival cabins have refrigerators.

Best regards,
Ray

I had a fridge, promenande, conceirge & mini golf. Rock climbing, ice
skating, bowling and prizes do not appeal much to me anyway. Money in my
pocket and things I enjoy do appeal.

We had an honor bar in the cabin, including refrigerator, pop and single
servings of liquor. The two production shows during our week were some
of the best I've seen aboard a ship. They were the typical, "Hooray for
Everything," shows, but the dancers were the most energetic, athletic
and enthusiastic we've encountered. It was frequently mentioned. I
admit to circling the ship about 200 times looking for the topless
sunning area, but since the weather near CA was cold and cloudy, I could
locate no semi-nude vixens.grin

Another little nice touch was a comedian who entertained in the main
showroom during the wait for disembarkation.

From my own Carnival experiences, I'd say that they do a darned good
job catering to all folks, offering decent entertainment, great food and
service. I also really liked that there was only a single announcement
at Noon.

By the way, something I failed to mention in my initial report was that
while the Pride had the standard annoying "art" auction, it was NOT like
on RCCL, where the "art" was scattered all over the main decks and the
"auction" took place in the atrium at a loud volume. Instead, the
annoying "art" was pretty much kept to a lounge on one side of a single
deck and the "auction" was conducted inside the lounge. Folks who
prefer to avoid the "art" auction aboard the ship were not forced to
"enjoy" the whining of the "auctioneer" while traversing the atrium
lobby and you could walk in the corridors without being forced to
negotiate around the "art."

This same sense of balancing sales pressure with the comfort of the
guests also held in the shops along the Promenade deck. Yes, there was
the typical "inch of gold" crud and a "2 for $49 designer watch" sales,
but they were very subdued and not at all like the crowding seen on the
Splendour OTS.
