By the way, if you are taking an international flight out of Manhattan,
be sure to be back in plenty of time to go through security. If you
are going to be arriving at JFK on an international flight, note that
some additional time will be needed to go through customs due to new
security protocols that were recently implemented.

Flew int'l out of JFK on Thursday - didn't notice any new customs
procedures. Arrived about half an hour before departure. Security line was a
bit long though, as you say, and I had to cut (sorry!).

On the other hand, there are always "surprises" when one orders
Chinese food. That is half the fun. If I want uniformity and no

surprises,
I go to McDonalds

absolutely. However, playing roulette with food is not fun, and this allergy
kills in a matter of minutes. So my exploration of chinese food has come to
an abrupt end.

I would do the same. You can't depend on any assurances from a
restaurant employee, even if they speak good English.

yes. and often they don't understand how lethal it is. They might have used
the same spoon to dish up, or the same chopping board...any trace of peanut
and goodbye world.
So I don't eat in restaurants that feature a lot of peanut on their menus.
