No, they are not. Just like if they sell you airfare, they are not liable
for problems there. It's why they farm it out, so they are just sub
contractors and that's that. You have no recourse against the cruise line
if the shuttle company, contracted by the cruise line or not, lost the
luggage.

If the cruise line is selling you their service, they are liable for
the errors.

Paul,

As Ray mentioned, the OP did not state it was a RCI contracted shuttle. And
having been on 7 RCI shuttles, something doesn't seem right hear.

The shuttle from the airport to the ship was making two stops, one to
the Radiance of the Seas (their ship), and one to the Millenium (not
sure whose cruise line that's affiliated with). When they left the
shuttle and asked about their luggage, the driver said that it would
follow them to the ship. Well, it got loaded on the Millenium instead.

After rereading the post, I wonder seriously if the bags were put on the
Millenium as they would have tags for Radiance. It would be more likely
that the bags were not put on the ship but are beign held. But then weirder
things have happened and yes bags do get lost often. I was on a 12 day
cruise with several Europeans whose bags were left behind. They made do,
bought new, and you wouldn't believe what one woman could do with scarves.

Seems a lot of people don't look under the bed when packing.

Or in drawers My daughter left all of her bathing suits and cover-ups on the
Grand.

A lawyer might disagree.

They can disagree all they want, it's getting the judge to agree that's
the trick.

Next time you have furniture delivered, notice the name on the top of the
form. It may have the logo of the furniture store (as the truck probably
does as well) but if you look at the business name, it may be similar to
the furniture company's name but it wont be exactly the same because they
are different companies.

This is done to shield the company from liability. If one of their
trucks (or one of the cruise shuttle busses) gets in a horrible accident,
the liability could wipe out the parent company. With a dummy
corporation setup like this, you liquidate the company, and start up a
new one. Right or wrong this is the way it's done.

I'd be willing to bet that all those Disney Cruise Line busses running
back and forth between MCO and Port Canaveral aren't owned by the Walt
Disney Company. They might even be owned by somebody like Mears. All
those busses running around the WDW resort probably aren't directly owned
by Disney either, anybody know?

Cool Mike, I didn't realize you could put your clothing up for "bet" in the
ship's casino.

Every time I go to the Casino I lose my shirt. :-)
