I'd suggest going into NYC for the day/evening. Visit/do things

like:

Go to the top of the Empire State Building
Metropolitan Museum of Art
American Museum of Natural History
Hayden Planetarium
Lincoln Center may have an event
Madison Square Garden might have an event

except during Hockey season ...

NY Yankees or NY Mets Game
Little Italy
Chinatown
Canal Street Jewelry/Diamond District
South Street Sea Port
Tour the United Nations Building
See a Broadway Play
Rockefeller Center
Etc.

Or go to Liberty State Park and take the ferry to the Statue of

Liberty and
Ellis Island. Very close is the Liberty Science Center.

You may be convincing the OP to come a week early ...

I'll add off broadway also ... Say Blue Man Group at the Astor near
Greenwich Village ... or some exhibition at the Javits Center ...
St. Patrick's Cathedral ...

Portuguese! Yum.

Karen,
pass the sangria

I'm partial to Don Pepe's ... It was difficult finding time to make
that trek especially with decent Portuguese restaurants nearer ... but
now with my youngest son up at NJIT ... the opportunity presents itself
often lately ...

We used to go to Spain a lot when we lived in Staten Island. My
daughter and husband, at different times have been to Don Pepo'e and
thought it was very good.

Do you know of any good Portuguese restaurants in South Jersey? It is
near impossible getting Kevin to go up to Newark from here.

We're not far from South River ... more Central than South Jersey ...
which has 2 good ones ... The Portuguese Fisherman ... and Ria Mar ...
Ria Mar is favored overall ... but the Portuguese Fisherman ... has
better food IMO if you can put up with the erratic service ... which we
often do ... Costa del Sol on Route 9 just south over the Raritan is
okay but a cut below the other two ...
The Portuguese Manor in Perth Amboy is also fine .. but when we trek
there we usually will eat seafood at The Barge ...

Thanks number6, I didn't know you were that far north of me. If I
could get Kevin up to Central Jersey, I could get him to Newark(grin).
There is a place in Riverside/Delanco that we have to try soon,
have heard some good and some bad about it.

Sue, if you find it to be good, is that near enough Bordentown so we could
all meet for lunch in June? It looks as if we may be there the weekend of
June 11th, if all works out with appointment changes! How about you, Sheree
and Dick?

My bride and I disembarked the Coral Princess yesterday, 8 March,
after a typically wonderful cruise. I hope to write a review, again
for my grandchildren, so please bear that in mind when I post the
text here if it seems a bit "childish." I will be comparing and
contrasting to some extent differences between our previous Carnival
cruises and this, our first Princess, cruise.

It will be a couple weeks before I write and post, as I want to get
it onto my Web site first with photos. When I post the textual
review, I will provide the link to the captioned "illustrated"
version.

Of interest, we had breakfast one morning with a couple who had taken
35 cruises (out of more than 50) with Princess. "Wow!" is all I can
say. (Oh, I also can say, "Must be nice to have money.")

Was anyone else on the 26 February - 8 March cruise?

Interesting! I have not been to Don Pepe's but Laura and Kevin both
like it. We used to go to Spain a lot when we lived in Staten Island.

Sue, can you get him as far north as the Jersey shore? There's
several there.

The Jersey shore is west of us and I don't think I could get him
there. There is a Portuguese place near us that we are going to try
soon, we have heard good and bad things about it so who knows.
