I had also seen it on Orbit or Expedia, but not on travelocity. Just
took a look and travelocity now has HAL 2006 Alaska sailings.

round trip Seattle - Oosterdam - Westerdam - Zaandam

round trip Vancouver - Zuiderdam - Statendam - Veendam - Ryndam

I haven't looked at the itins yet, but at least in 2006 there are a
bunch of round trip sailings. I think I am going to wait and look at
the itins after I get the catalog in the mail.

Hmmmm, I think it was Orbitz I looked on and it seemed like it did have
2006 HAL Alaska cruises already....yes must have been due to a previous
email I mentioned I think Zaandam, Zuiderdam and somebody else were
doing roundtrip inside passage cruises in 2006.

Hi Jean,

Kevin said he downloaded the HAL Alaska 2006 brouchure from the HAL
website and it is only for 2006. I have a feeling the brochure you get
in the mail, will also only be for 2006. I have a feeling we can use
2006 as a guide, but will have to wait untill this time next year to
see what they offer in 2007.

Carnival seems to be the only one, or one of very few that posts itins
this far in advance. Very strange, but travelocity doesn't post any
2006 HAL Alaska cruises yet.

If a one-way cruise is chosen for the SGC, we will probably do both ways
(back-to-back). We have done this three times (Sun Princess, Legend of the
Seas, and Statendam), and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The one way
airfare is atrocious, and for a little more you can have two weeks on the
ship.

Actually, for the SGC I'm totally flexible....I'm going to see snow next
year in 2006 by going early!!!

Probably I would lean towards 7 days either way, either Seattle or
Vancouver, although I could be talked into a one way northbound too!

thanks tobie! once we see who's doing what we can start deciding. some
have been to both glaciers, wonder which they prefer? our 2 cruises to
alaska have been late aug and the weather was perfect both times.

Sheree, would a late June itinerary be possible for you?
Jeff wants to see more snow, I would like to get a little cooler weather
than the four Julys that we have experienced in Alaska.
Tobie says the weather is usually good in late June..but the problem
would be if your schedule did not permit it. We could also
consider Seattle, round trip, since you mentioned that you wanted to
spend some time there..Any of these options would be okay for us...Our
cruise to Hawaii in May/June of 2007, would be the only dates that we
have to work around.. Maybe we should take a vote!

How many could take :
1.Seattle to Seattle, 7 days.....
2.Vancouver to Seward or Whittier...7 days
3.Vancouver to Vancouver ...14 days.....
4. Late June.....
5.Mid to late August....

Ed and I can do any of the above.

Right Tobie, but for those who are still working it would use two
weeks vacation time. I know that would not work for Kevin untill after
he retires.

Hi Jean,

We probably could do any of these dates, or itineraries, due to the fact
that there's no flying required. We, of course, would prefer a Vancouver
sailing because it's closer to drive to.

Sadly, my niece, who lived close to the Vancouver airport, has moved to
the interior of the privince, so parking is a bit of a problem now though.
:-(

Tobie,
Is the parking at one port less/more than the other, if you are driving?
Paying for 14 days of parking may be a bundle unless you can find a hotel
that will let you park your car. Could you come by ferry from your little
island in the Pacific? ;-) We are flexible as far as dates, ports and number
of days....

Hi Jean,

It is still considerably cheaper to drive, even with the ferry fares and
parking, to Vancouver than it is to fly. It's just a pity we don't have our
FREE parking space anymore.

For our Hawaii cruise next week we found a hotel near the Vancouver airport
that allows up to three weeks parking for one nights stay. It was a bit
more expensive than some other hotels (without parking) but overall it is
reasonable Can$119 including parking for 16 nights. The parking rate at the
pier was about $16.00 per day.

We come in too late to drive home after our flight home from Honolulu (last
ferry is 9:00 PM) so we booked the hotel for the night we come back. We'll
take the car to the hotel on Wednesday and take a cab to the pier. The Best
Western Hotel has a free shuttle from the airport when we return.
