Ahhemm a bit too fast there;

Where are the best places in New Zealand to look for work, and which
farms/places are the best, both in a work- and social way ?

Fruit Picking in New Zealand? Are you crazy? You are much better off
working hard in your own Country making REAL money (thats if you are
from Europe of America) than working for crumbs in NZ. NZ fruit pickers
are paid very poorly.
This is why you will find SO MANY Kiwis working in Australia, UK or
The United States.

Well, what an uplifting comment, thank you very much !

Thing is, I'm a graphic designer and it's impossible to get a job in my
country, so the choice is either to work in a kitchen here in the
everlasting winter (8-9 months) or go somewhere sunny and work outside. Scew
the money, I don't care about that.

So, anyone else have any experience with fruitpicking in New Zealand ?

You won't make enough picking fruit to support yourself, so why bother? Find a
way to hustle tourists, and you'll be much better off.
