Six Hours in SLC

Well, the obvious would be to go into town and browse
around Temple Square for a few hours.

Also in the general vicinity of downtown is the Clark
Plantetarium/IMAX theater.

From downtown, you can also catch light rail to the University of
Utah. No light rail to the airport, yet. But there is bus service on
UTA.

A bit south and east of downtown in the Tracy Aviary.

You can get other ideas on things to see in Salt Lake there.

The Utah Transit Authority is at www.utabus.com

The UTA site is a little clunky and I can't find a map of their whole
bus system. But there is a trip planner and if you type in your
origin and destination it will plan out a route. Then you could go
and pull up the specific route schedules and maps elsewhere to figure
out exactly when and where those routes go.

Looking at the 6pm news reports tonight (Friday), those winds seem to be
kicking up quite a bit already along the coast near Orlando.

It's not a macho contest. They are concerned about the safety of passengers
and their own workers. You don't get a prize for winning the last open
airport contest.

The last time I was in SLC, the LDS Church (Mormons) had a booth where
they would take people with more than a three hour lay-over by van on
a tour of the Mormon Tabernacle (non-Mormons are not allowed in the
Temple). Promised to get you back to the airport for your flight.
Its free, and while I am sure you get a religious message out of it,
Mormons are soft-sellers. Might be interesting.
