Using coupon codes on car rentals...

I've rented a car with a major car rental company for a 8 day trip
from New York City to Los Angeles. To save money, I used a coupon code
that I found on the internet. What this coupon code does is waives the
Underage Fee for the rental. I have been told that the agent will not
ask for verification of elegibility for the coupon code (I am not
eligible but it worked at time of booking). Now, in the event that I
get into an accident on the trip, would the car rental company look to
investigate whether I was allowed to use that coupon code in the first
place? What are the potential consequences and repercussions of using
a coupon code that I am not eligible to use to rent a car? Now, what
if I use the coupon code to get the discount but am then also covered
for rental cars on my own insurance? Or even my credit card?

Who told you the agent won't verify your eligibility? You do know that when
you pick up the car, they'll make a copy of your driver's license? I have no
idea whether you can get away with it or not, but in today's litigitious
society, you need to seriously research how the system works before you ask
strangers to help you cheat.

have no idea whether you can get away with it or not, but in today's
litigitious society, you need to seriously research how the system works
before you ask strangers to help you cheat.

Forgot to add -- If you lie in your contract with the rental company, and
have an accident or other problem, your personal insurance company may
decide it has no legal reason to represent you. Or, they may take care of it
and then jack your rates sky high. Ditto with the credit card.
