Default another side to fort william

i'm puting together a site for a cottage in loch lhinne, and i'm
stunned by the beauty of the place! so much so that i plan to visit
the place!

I don't know anything about it, other than what i received for text
for the site.
but i decided that i wanted to visit fort william (it says it's near).

i was just searching for info on fort william when i came across these
posts,
and i was surprised to read some of them (i'm not as sure as i was 20
mins ago).

i think i'd still like to go, maybe in summer when there's more to
see?

if you want to see the pics that made me decide this, the site in
question is:

http://www.loch-linnhe-cottage.co.uk/

there's just 2 pics, but the lake is stunning.

i was hoping for some tips about places to stay near by (or is camping
allowed?)
anything from anybody that's been there (even if it's to warn me not
to go!) is welcome

cheers
jg

Forget Fort William a rather forgettable place-----where in my experience
its always raining.
Been through it umpteen times on my way elsewhere-----------.
However its very near one of the most beautifull road trips in Scotland I am
of course referring to one of the famous "road to the isles".
Its a 40 mile stretch of road from Fort William to Mallaig.
The area is steeped in ancient Scottish history-just thinking about that
road makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
Bonnie Prince Charlie landed in this area on his ill fated attempt at
stirring up civil war[not a war between the Scots and the English]ending in
the tragic battle of Culloden----------anyway the road winds thro the
mountains and the pure white beaches of Arisaig and around have a haunting
beauty.
You can get a ferry from Mallaig to Eigg Rhum and Muck I have been to all
three islands I would say you could do two in one day I preferred Eigg it
has a "secret" interior very fertile and "singing sands".
You are correct in thinking Loch Linnhe is worth seeing you can take the
Corran ferry and drive down to catch the ferry for Mull at Lochaline.
This area of Scotland is pretty remote but you can buy food at the small
shops.
As to expense Scotland has got to be one of the most expensive tourist
destinations in Europe.
Renting a cottage is a good idea-but-if you are up for it b&b plus a car
covers a lot of ground.
If you are young and fit a lightweight tent is even better.
The midges------move-do nt try and sit them out they will drive you
crazy-July and August can be bad.
Light pollution is so low there that you will be able to see sattelites
tracking across the sky without binnoculars.
