Default London to Edinburgh Daytrip

This site:
http://london-tours.info/london-tour...ls.asp?TID=328

Has a rail/bus and Edinburgh Castle prepaid excurion for 108 British Pounds.
Since it doesn't even include a guide, could we book this all ourselves for
enough less money to be worth the effort involved or is there another
company with a simialr tour for less money?

I wouldn't even consider a day trip to Edinburgh from London.

A day trip to Edinburgh from London is fine. But I would fly. One of the
many options would be to get an Easy Jet (cheap!) floight up from Gatwick at
09.55 and return by the 20.45 . Easy rail connection from London Victoria.
This would allow plenty of time to do the usual sights.

I wouldnt even consider it, its like taking a day trip to San Francisco
from Los Angeles , you'll spend 8 hours travelling and
get at most 3 hours in Edinburgh

If you want a day trip from London by rail
consider York, Cambridge, Bath or Oxford

It's no problem at all - fly for the same sort of money, and pick up a local
guide if wished.
I used to commute to Edinburgh from Heathrow a couple of times a week and
put in 8 hours work up there. No trouble.
Indeed, I'd recommend it. A beautiful city, especially if not yet visited.

so be at the airport by 8 (although Ryan recommend be there 2
hours before flight), leave hotel at 7, back at 20.45, out of
airport by 21.15, at hotel by 22.15.
Arrive Edinburgh centre about 12?
Leave Edinburgh centre about 18?
A 15 hour + day for 6 hours there, I don't find that sort of
ratio much fun.

What happened to it after you visited it? :-)
