How Buddhism deals with Global Warming Issues

HIMALAYA FILM FESTIVAL TOKYO 2008

Himalaya Archief Nederland (Dutch NGO) and Himalaya Archive Japan (Japanese
NPO) are pleased to announce that we will organize the Himalaya Film
Festival in Tokyo ('Himalaya Film Festival Tokyo 2008") this autumn from
October 31 to November 3, 2008.



The Himalaya Film Festival aims at raising awareness of the connection
between human beings and mother earth through the Himalayan region, offering
the public an excellent and unique opportunity to take a closer look at the
region. The film festival took place in Amsterdam for the first time in
2003, organized by Himalaya Archief Nederland.



The HFFT 2008 will screen thirty documentaries that cover topics ranging
from intrepid climbing expeditions to history and traditional lifestyle
unique to the region, to pressing environmental issues. In conjunction with
the festival, Arjia Rinpoche, a prominent Tibetan Buddhist, will give a
lecture entitled 'How Buddhism deals with Global Warming Issues' at the same
venue.



We firmly believe that the Himalaya Film Festival Tokyo 2008 will help
foster people's understanding about the Himalayan region, the relationship
between humans and nature, and environmental issues under the concept of the
project-'Think of the Mother Earth, Think from the Himalayas.'
