Default imported alcohol in the Dominican Republic

Hello, I'm going to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, and am not
interested in drinking the local stuff. Am I allowed to bring booze
(packed in my luggage) from Canada into the DR?
thanks

Don't know what you mean by "local" stuff but they had every brand of liquor
when I was there. UNless you mean beer and I can't believe you want to try
to take a week or two's worth in your luggage.

I'm interested in bringing a bottle of Bailys and a bottle of good
vodka. I'm asking because I've read that the liquor they stock is
locally made, and is not that great.

I have been to the DR and I can tell you that coming from the US you have to
ask that they use the brand name stuff. It's pretty much like getting a
drink here in the states if you want a Jack and coke you ask for a Jack and
coke or else you get whatever is in the gun.
