Also, with a conventional oven you can cook from basic ingredients like dried beans which are *much* cheaper than ready meals. What prevents this from being done with a microwave? -- Transpose hotmail and mxsmanic in my e-mail address to reach me directly. |

You canąt do great cuisine with microwave. See above. Try some scrambled eggs. what about the other 99.999999% of "great cuisine"? Not that many understand "great cuisine" to mean scrambled eggs anyway (which can be made perfectly well without a microwave). -- Mike Reid "Art is the lie that reveals the truth" P.Picasso Wasdale-Lake district-Thames path-London "http://www.fellwalk.co.uk" -- you can email us@ this site Eat-walk-Spain "http://www.fell-walker.co.uk" -- dontuse@ all, it's a spamtrap |

Also, with a conventional oven you can cook from basic ingredients like dried beans which are *much* cheaper than ready meals. What prevents this from being done with a microwave? have you tried cooking a meal from its ingredients in a microwave? Think chilli con carne, for instance. -- Mike Reid "Art is the lie that reveals the truth" P.Picasso Wasdale-Lake district-Thames path-London "http://www.fellwalk.co.uk" -- you can email us@ this site Eat-walk-Spain "http://www.fell-walker.co.uk" -- dontuse@ all, it's a spamtrap |

what about the other 99.999999% of "great cuisine"? There is no particular conflict between microwave ovens and great cuisine. A microwave oven is a heating device, just like many other heating devices, and it can have its place any kitchen, no matter what type of cuisine that kitchen produces. Not that many understand "great cuisine" to mean scrambled eggs anyway (which can be made perfectly well without a microwave). Microwaves do a better job, in part because the cooking is so even, and in part because no oil or other stuff is required. Scrambled eggs from a microwave are very fluffy and delicious. Add a bit of butter, bacon bits, and pepper, and they're quite heavenly. -- Transpose hotmail and mxsmanic in my e-mail address to reach me directly. |

have you tried cooking a meal from its ingredients in a microwave? Some meals, yes. There's nothing particularly unusual about a microwave as compared to other methods of cooking. -- Transpose hotmail and mxsmanic in my e-mail address to reach me directly. |
