Cambodia got her first set of escalators a couple of years ago in
a shopping mall (there were hired personnel to guide people on the use of
this devil's gadget).

Weird... I was at Soria 15 minutes ago. They have lifts too, you know.
Anyway, the claim is false. Cambodia had an escalator in Psar Orusy
(sp?) for ages; it just never worked.

Well out of work pieces naturally don't count.

I skimmed one article about this and it said the shopping mall WAS Sorya.

Perhaps it was the first set in a public house for everyone leaving aside
hotels, corporate buildings and so on. For instance Reuters have reported on
this.

In the egg pic, I notice they have the same brands of canned fish that
my local Philippino - run corner store here in Chicago has. Also, the
egg guy looks like he could have a *great* career in fashion
modelling....

A lot of the people around here have Arab features and skin tone but light
eyes and reddish hair. It's a very distinctive look, something I haven't
seen much elsewhere (except that famous National Geographic cover photo of
the woman from, maybe, Afghanistan).

This was the subject of a N.G. TV special. The photo is called the
"Afghan Girl". In 2001 NG went back to try to find her 17 years later,
well with the face covering and all... not so easy. They did find her
in the Tora Bora area and did an iris map to confirm. The 17 years
have been very hard on this woman.

Her name is Sharbat Gula (sp?).

This guy had the greenish-brown eyes,
though I'm not sure you can see it by the time the photo got shrunk down for
the web.

Not a whole stack, but I got you a Saddam note. Email me your address and
I'll post it to you when I return.

Wonderful!! I'll do that. Thanks a million Miguel. ;-)

Well, I guess Miguel really was in occupied Iraq: ;-)

Here's the Saddam side of the 25-dinar note he sent.

Cool. Thanks again! What a rush it must have been to have been on the
ground there.
