Indonesia, is better Euro or Dollars?

But admittedly, the most significant restriction is the de facto sluggishness created by trade imbalance and possibly investor skittishness. Sorry Miguel, but I really do not believe there are any controls on the movement of the rupiah. They were removed in the early or mid 90s. Could you please specify what these controls are? I have not seen them. My understanding was that you could not export more than 50000 rupiah. This seems to be the consensus among online guidebooks that address the topic. I tried to find information about it on Indonesian government sites but soon gave up due to their lousy indexing (or maybe my lousy search skills). miguel Just flew in yesterday. The limit on import is Rp.50million. I forgot to check export - indeed I don't really know where to check as there is no export Customs form - but I guess it would be the same. But as I said before the cash in/out movement are probably peanuts comapred to those through unrestricted banking channels. |
