Difference of online vs interline connection

Hi Can anyone point me the difference of online connection Just means a connection on the same airline. Ie AA123 to AA456 interline connection A connection to any other airline where ticketed on the same ticket and the airline agrees to transfer your luggage. These days, that usually means an alliance connection. Ie NWA123 to KLM 456. And I guess there is no such thing as offline connection. Right? Well yes, but its called two separate tickets. If you have luggage, you have to go outside security, collect it, recheck it and then reenter security. |

Thanks Clark. That's exactly what I wanted.
Then I guess same airline with different flight number is online either. |

There are a LOT of interline agreements that allow luggage to be
checked from one airline to the next. to use your NWA to KLM example, if you're taking a SEA-LAX flight on NW then a LAX to AMS flt on KL you'll check in your luggage in SEA and not see it again until AMS. But most passenger's final destination isn't AMS, the're off to Athens on Ageian air. The'll check in their luggage in SEA and then not see it again until ATH. AMS has an interairline agreement with everyone as far as i know. You don't even have to pass the bags through customs. |
