POSTS NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED TO THIS NEWSGROUP
Dear Readers,
For three reasons, this moderated newsgroup is being suspended: 1. Most importantly, there are now two websites that do a very good job of posting current consumer-oriented opinions about all-inclusive resorts: http://www.debbiescaribbeanresortreviews.com/ and http://www.tripadvisor.com/ 2. We have been overwhelmed by spam lately, and I have to filter out at least 10 junk messages for every on-topic post received. 3. Your moderator for the last four years has become frustrated that hackers are now apparently able to circumvent the moderation and post off-topic posts, and this defeats the purpose of having a moderated newsgroup. Accordingly, I have decided to cease postings to this newsgroup. Hal Segal, moderator rec.travel.resorts.all-inclusive |

POSTS NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED TO THIS NEWSGROUP
Or allow the group to remain unmoderated.
-- Dilly "Steven Goodman" wrote in message ... Hal, You should check the usenet newsgroup charter, to see what action you should take, instead of just unilaterally "disbanding" the rec.travel.resorts.all-inclusive newgroup. There are rules in place for this kind of thing. I expect your three options within the charter are to: 1) Ask for a new moderator. I have been in other groups where the moderated left, and a new moderator took over. 2) Set up automatic moderation, similiar to what you have now, but where all posts must come from "pre-screened addresses". Anyone new wanting to post needs to "sign up". 3) Ask for a vote amoung usenet "members" as to disband the nuewgroup or not. This is similiar to the mechanism to start a new newsgroup. For now, the group will remain moderated and I will be the moderator for the time being. David Bath |

NEW MODERATOR (was POSTS NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED TO THIS NEWSGROUP)
My name is David Bath, I have volunteered to take over the moderation
of this group for now. I am an experienced moderator as I have been one of the moderators of rec.audio.high-end for over 5 years. I also voted to create this group and I've posted to the group many times as I go to an all-inclusive resort at least once a year.. Hal is giving us the chance to prove that this is a viable group by first posting good questions and then posting good answers. It's the answers that Hal feels are missing. I myself feel that as long as any on-topic posts are sent in the group should continue. Hal has reserved the right to suspend the group again if he feels the group is not of any use. He's giving us a few months to prove him wrong, so let's get to it! a more valuable, more successful group. =============== Comment from Moderator =============== Thanks for the support, I hope the group becomes a useful as it was at its peak. David Bath |

I am afraid I have to agree.
Many times my questions or replies were rejected for not being good enough. -- Dilly People will forget what you said. ... : I am afraid I have to agree. : Many times my questions or replies were rejected for not being good enough. Too much of a dictatorship/censorship approach here (I'll be surprised if this gets posted). I think there is no such thing as a repetitive question. People nowadays don't have time to read through endless archives and reviews. A newsgroup is one place to get an answer quickly. Places always change. Censorship is so 1984ish. =============== Comment from Moderator =============== I think "dictatorship" or "censorship" are rather strong terms, lets just say Hal has a one view of how the group should be run, I prefer a more relaxed approach.
