Durban safe?
I am planning for a trip through South Africa in March. I am considering
spending a day or two in Durban, but some people have warned me about public safety in that city. The city centre would be dangerous, especially with regard to muggings and car jacking. Is this true? I've read the Rough Guide to South Africa and they warn only against a few neighbourhoods and shantytowns and the central beaches. Anyone with experiences? -- ------- Eddy www.couvreur.demon.nl |

Durban safe?
I went to Durban in May. Can't say I felt particularly safe and my hotel
advised to get a taxi everywhere...even short distances. Jon "Eddy le Couvreur" wrote in message ... I am planning for a trip through South Africa in March. Durban safe?
Was there this time last year.
Was told to stay OUTSIDE the City. Stayed at Umhlanga Rocks just a bit North. Great time there. Lovely area. Mikey "JH" wrote in message news I went to Durban in May. Durban safe?
Eddy
I agree.... it would be better to stay outside of the city. There are many areas south of it which are far more pleasant. Rocco "Mikey" wrote in message ... Was there this time last year.
