Before my first visit to Greece I bought amongst other guide books the Blue
Guide to Greece and read it. I also re-read Ulysses and The Iliad

I read Homer before my first island-hopping trip. It really helped with the
sense of awe and appreciation of the relics.

dark sea" - to know that what you see from your ferry is what he

Before and during my visit to Greece I intensively read about Greek
history from the Bronze age to the modern age. It was good having
Internet access in many hotels. But I found nothing about the temple of
Apollo Epicurius at Bassae (except in the UNESCO list). No idea why
UNESCO is listing it.
