Default Drive of the Alpine Way, Snowy Mountains and near vicinity NSW

Hello all,

For those interested in doing a drive aroung the Snowy Mountains, my Wife
and I have just returned home to Sydney after a 6 Day drive predominately of
the Alpine Way in Southern NSW.

Day 1 Home - Tumut area, overnight in Tumut Log Cabins Dinner at Tumut Ex
Servicemans Club. Accommodations was average but dinner was nice

Day 2 Tumut to Khancoban, tour of Murray 1 Power station then relaxing
afternoon followed by Dinner at Khancoban Alpine Hotel.
Power Station visit was interesting but mainly a display and video
presentation.
The regrowth from last Summers Fires is good to see.
The Hotel is in need of help and renovation but apparently has new owners.
Overnight Stay in Deluxe Spa suite at Khancoban Lakeside caravan resort. The
owner of this establishment is a great guy and goes out of his way to make
sure you are comfortable Highly recommended and very comfortable cabins.

Day 3 Drive to Corryong, Walwa and Jingellic where we were going to have
lunch but the Pub is closed for Lunch Mon and Tue, therfore we continued on
to Tumbarumba where we found a magnificent cafe called "Cafe Red" and
enjoyed a delightful Lunch of a style we did not expect to find in a small
country town.
After lunch we returned to Khancoban via Cabramurra and cooked our own
Dinner to avoid a second night of eating at the Khancoban Alpine Hotel.

Day 4 Khancoban to Thredbo, a beautiful drive with great scenery and several
Picnic areas with lots of wildlife to see.
Lunch at the top of Mt Crackenback at Thredbo.
Dinner at the Bistro at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel.
Overnight at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel, a magnificent and comfortable room
with great views up the mountain.

Day 5 Thredbo to Canberra, Canberra Zoo, Dinner at Kingston a lovely part
of Canberra

Day 6 Canberra to Home

A quick easy drive for a few days and very relaxing.
