EasyJet - more Questions

The carry on luggage allowance is rather small - much smaller than the Airlines in the USA have. They allow 1 piece sized at 18" x 14" x 8" and 11 lbs plus a hand bag. Do they really check this and charge the extra fee for weight over 11 lbs? Are the overheads so small that they will not carry the typical American carryone luggage (22" x 15" x 8"). I will not have any checked luggage. I've flown EasyJet about 6 times. The only times that my hand bags have been weighed were when flying out of Luton and I was allowed to take the newspaper and bottle of water out and put it in my pocket. At Stansted and Lisbon, no checks of the hand bags. But, that is just my experience. tom |

EasyJet - more Questions

There have been quite a few instances of aircraft hit by abnormal turbulence having some overhead bins burst open in the ensuing mayhem. You would have to be looping the loop to realistically shift 23 kg! When people get up while the plane is still taxiing to a gate, Why are they getting up if the plane is still taxiing? |

EasyJet - more Questions
Roland Perry writes:
I don't think their problem is the size or weight, as such (and I agree that they almost always check the weight and insist you check overweight items) but their aircraft have very tight turn-round times and they simply don't want all the delay caused by people stowing and retrieving hand baggage. In which case maybe the hand luggage allowance should be proportional to the strength of the passenger. This could be fun to check - Easyjet passengers would be required to briefly arm-wrestle the check-in staff, or a bright orange "test your strength" fairground machine could be stationed at the desks. -- -- Chris. |

Hold baggage isn't a problem - the plane can leave on its return flight even if the checked bags haven't yet appeared on the carousel!! I agree. I have never seen full overhead bins on EZY, so no messing about trying to find space for your bag, so faster boarding. --==++AJC++==-- |

Because they're stupid? I mean, the plane's probably still moving at 40mph and they suddenly decide they *must* open the lockers, block the aisle and generally make a nuisance of themselves. Hilary Often people will get up when the plane stops, even if it is waiting for the gate area to be cleared. (seems to be more often a problem in the US than Europe). they probably weren't taking notice of the announcements. |
