Default Trip Report: CPR-ANC via DEN on 06/03/2004.

The following trip report was created using the Calendar application
on my Palm Tungsten E Handheld with some information being coming from
United's electronic timetable. []denotes actual time with {}containing
remarks about the flight.

Thu Jun 3, 2004
From Casper, WY to Anchorage, AK via Denver, CO

Left for airport at ll:45am. Arrived at 12:00noon. Check-in was a
breeze, as the line was nonexistent. In addition for once TSA did not
have to open every piece of checked piece of luggage or least not
ours. Our Packmate bags it easy for TSA to search through bags. Was
glad to be going to DEN on Skywest, rather than SLC due to an
overweight situation (maybe not, read below for more info.) about the
SLC bound plane. They had one person that I know of who agreed to be
bumped. Looks, as if the small commuter aircraft weighted a touch
too much to fly in the thin air caused by the warm temperatures
(please correct me if I am incorrect in what I have posted inregards
to this weight problem). Security was also a breeze at our small, but
convenient airport as usual. Arrived at the gate to find that our
aircraft was also overweight and that they were looking for
passengers to be bumped in return for a free round trip ticket. We
would have given up our seats, but we knew that would get us into ANC
very late or in tomorrow. We did not want the later to happen, as we
had a prepaid car rental (60% off regular rate with Hertz through
Hotwire) and hotel room in ANC. Maybe we will get a offer like that
going home. They had no takers so this meant that some checked bags
could be left behind. That was not the case, as 2 passengers were held
at security, due to a camping knife in their carryon bags. They of
course were left behind.

CPR-DEN - United operated by UA XP/SKY WE
Flight: UA6269 non-stop
Leave: CPR 12:55p [1:15p]
Arrive: DEN 2:02p [2:22p per UA text message]
CPR gate: 3A
DEN gate: B59
Aircraft type: EM2 {much prefer the Dash 8 that was used by previous
UAX carriers on this route. Although glad to see a true UAEX carrier,
rather than the code-share agreement UA had with Great Lakes. The
agreement did nothig, but cause the price for ariline tickets to go up
in CPR, not to mention the introduction of Great Lakes crappy service.
The end to this agreement lead to Great Lakes leaving CPR. I guess
they were unable to feed F9 (seperate code-share agreement) enough
passengers , draw enough traffic for their connecting flights, and/or
capture enough business travelers going only to Denver.}
{Flight was bumpy during takeoff and about 1/2 through for a few
minutes or so, as well as during landing. Beverage service was water
only, due to someone not loading the plane in DEN.}
While in DEN we had 3+ hours before our ANC flight, so had a bite and
walked around awhile
DEN-ANC - United
Flight: UA1103 non-stop
Leave: DEN 5:30p [5:35p]
Arrive: ANC 8:52p [8:50p]
Aircraft type: 757
DEN gate: B44
ANC gate:
Meals: Dinner
{Flight was a smooth one, other than a few bumps along the way. In
flight service began with a drink and snack. NBC InFlight began about
same time. The meal (pasta or beef) was served about 1/3 of the way
in. The movie (Miracle) began shortly after that. The sightseeing into
was great. After deplaning we headed to claim our bags and to find our
rental. Arrived at hotel shortly after this.}

Trip report for Island Princess, Whittier to Vancouver,
06/05-06/12/2004 to be posted on rec.travel.cruises in the coming
days.
Trip report: SEA-CPR via DEN on 06/12/2004 to be posted here at
rec.travel.air in coming minutes or hours.
