Two days in Malaysia from Singapore?
Hi,
I am planning to visit Singapore in November and want to go for a 2/3 day trip to Malaysia. I am looking for a single place not too far from Singapore by bus. I will be traveling with husband and kid (4 year old) so please recommend something appropriate for kids-family. I think, a reasonably lively beach area would be preferred but not necessary. How is Genting? How far from Singapore? Appropriate for kids? Thanks. |

How is Genting? How far from Singapore? Appropriate for kids? Genting is a mountain resort consisting of hotels, a casino, a shopping complex - all enclosed in one huge building. It's freezing inside (too much A/C), very noisy and crowded. Outside there is nothing to do. To get there you first go to KL (5 hours by bus), then from there take the bus to Genting ( 1 1/2 hours). Don't go there. I don't know of any suitable beach resort nearby. Tioman island will be closed due to the monsoon and the beaches on the west coast are not good. Your only option is to take a bus and go to Melaka (2-3 hours from Singapore), a pleasant small city with a rich colonial heritage. http://www.molon.de/galleries/Malays...tCoast/Melaka/ -- Alfred Molon http://www.molon.de - Photos of Asia, Africa and Europe |

Two days in Malaysia from Singapore?
Monsoon - me thought, weather is almost the same every day of the year
in Singapore - isn't it the same in Malaysia? Melaka: looks nice but is there anything else to do other than roaming around the streets, visting heritage buildings etc. My husband and son would get quite bored spending two days there. They need some activity. Thanks. Although I'm not the guy who really likes hanging around, do shopping trips and classical sightseeing, I enjoyed our time (we spent 2 days) in Melaka ... but I understand your concerns .. Manfred |

No because there is a mountain range crossing the peninsula, which causes different rainy seasons on the east and west coast. Melaka: looks nice but is there anything else to do other than roaming around the streets, visting heritage buildings etc. My husband and son would get quite bored spending two days there. They need some activity. Then take a plane and fly to Langkawi (Malaysia): http://www.molon.de/galleries/Malays...oast/Langkawi/ Good weather in November, some good beaches, clean seawater if you take the ferry to the smaller islands, lots of things to do and see. Have a WOW experience instead of a so-so one in Melaka. -- Alfred Molon http://www.molon.de - Photos of Asia, Africa and Europe |
