409MHZ FRS wlakie talkie in NZ and Melbourne
Will be going to Auckland and Melbourne next week and want to bring my
Motorola 5428 walkie-talkies for convenience. Are they legal in both cities. Do I need to declare them at customs?? Thanks |

Illegal. Shoiuld be decalared as duty would be payable, and they may be
confiscated. Those frequencies maybe in use by other services which you will interfere with, if you use those in Australia. 40 CH UHF band in Australia is 476.425 to 477.400MHZ see. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UHF_CB Just buy a pair of hand helds at Dick Smiths they are very cheap NZ maybe different again. Never take units from one country to another as the allocated frequencies are nearly always different. JOhn H "ABC" wrote in message ...
