Default Rental Price of a Cottage on the Gold Coast?

What would be a good price per week for a month's rental of a small
luxury cottage on the Gold Coast for the month of February? Would $500
per week be a good price?

It would be an apartment (unit, condominium, flat depending in which country
you live) probably in a high rise - and yes $500 will get you a nice unit in
February. Should be within 200m of the beach, with onsite pool, tennis
court, barbecue and spa/sauna. Unit should be fully equipped - microwave,
stove etc; cable tv, and price should include linen and cleaning fee.

Cottages - on the Gold Coast - would be back where the real people live
(permanents), and would be for long term rental.

You are unlikely to get a "cottage" on the Gold Coast; real
estate is just too expensive for a single cottage anywhere
near the beach. What you can get is a luxury flat or condo
in a high-rise.

I stayed here about a year ago.

The rates weren't bad - and the flat (2br) was superb. But a
quick quote check for February still came up at over $1000
for a week. It's possible a full month may get a discount if
you contact them.

If you are trying to save, it gets a little cheaper the
further you get from Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise. If you
aren't after the city lights and the casino, then there are
lots of other lovely spots - I'd recommend further south
towards Kirra or Coolangatta. Or even down my way, the
quieter beaches and villages like Kingscliff, Cabarita or
Pottsville.

You can get cheaper - try the various apartment rental sites
- just google Gold coast Accommodation. Unfortunately, I'll
only be away for a week in February or you could have had my
place on the Tweed Coast for less than that:-)

What style of location are you after?

That's a nice place but I'm not fond of high rises. I want a detached
unit (bungalow, cottage, small house, etc.) that is in the luxury
category. I would consider anywhere down the coast to Sydney or even up
to the Sunshine Coast.

This is what you'll get at my local agent for the Tweed
Coast:

Click on "Holiday Accommodation", then use their search.
Mine is Loralei in Pottsville (just so you can see what this
town is like), but it's not available at that time and I'm
not looking for bookings at the moment. If you do come near
here - send me an email and we'll get together to say
g'day:-)

Major agents in the district, including the Gold Coast, a

Remember, the rates are different for permanent and holiday
rentals - send them an email and specify your needs.

If you are commencing after the first week of February the
rates will be lower because the school holiday season will
be over. Consequently, a full month may allow you some good
bargaining power.

Just realised you're the idiot who asked if Australia has supermarkets!!!

I can't quite decide if you're an unsophisticated troll; or a genuinely
ignorant yank!!!!

For sure - you are NOT a traveller seeking advice from generous locals!

His 'recent' (last 12 months) posting history does not indicate that
he is trolling.

Looks like it. (If you read something about 'pleonasm' in this line,
then my delete key is playing up again. Damn keyboards! :-))

Looks like he *is*. Apparently he plans on coming to The Netherlands
as well, so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place and have nowhere
to run. Looks like even Tahiti is out! :-)

I'm neither. But I now know you don't judge people well
I have traveled all over, except Australia, and am just looking for
first hand information. Information that is not always so easy to
obtain by internet searches.

And you believe him? How in the world can you afford to rent a houyse
when you can't even judge that a person is sincere in asking questions.
