Beach weather - how to predict it
Suppose you wanted to calculate the temperature of the beach in San
Francisco and you lived about 30-60 from the beach. How would you know if it was hot or cold at the beach, given your own weather conditions? |

Beach weather - how to predict it
Which beach? The automated weather sensor at SFO can be reached at
650-872-0246. Not much beach at the airport, though. Be more specific. The FAA has weather sensors at airports all around the Bay area. Bob Gardner wrote in message oups.com... How would you know if it was hot or cold at the beach, given your own weather conditions? I use yahoo weather and if it's predicting, sunny, warm, and very light winds, I go to the beach. If it's predicting anything else, I stay away. I also use accuweather.com. |

Beach weather - how to predict it
I'm probably just stating the obvious here, but be aware that the WATER
temperature (as given in marine forecasts) only changes very slowly over time. The AIR temperature (which is what most weather forecasts give) can change considerably from day to day. |

How would you know if it was hot or cold at the beach, given your own weather conditions? It ain't hard: If you're thirty minutes from The Beach, say the Ferry Building, and it's a hot day, it's likely to be 15° cooler. If it's a warm day, it's likely to be ten degrees cooler. If you're thirty miles North of The Beach and it's a hot day, it's likely to be 25° cooler, 20° on a warm day. If you're thirty miles East of The Beach and it's a hot day, it's likely to be 30° cooler, 25° on a warm day. If you're thirty miles South of The Beach on The Coast, it's likely to be about the same, if inland but not near The Bay on a hot day, it's likely to be 20° degrees cooler, 15° if it's a warm day. The only time there's not a significant temperature difference is when the wind's coming from the East. The only time it's warmer at The Beach is when it's very cold. __________________________________________________ _________________ A San Franciscan in 47.452 mile² San Francisco. http://geocities.com/dancefest/ - http://geocities.com/iconoc/ ICQ: http://wwp.mirabilis.com/19098103 --- IClast at SFbay Net |
