Chitzen Itza Excursion
Yes it was larger. Maybe 12 or so of us. I have heard about the excursion
for up to 4 pax. I have heard good things about it. What was it that bothered you? Was it the plane, the airports or the pilots. I've flown a lot of small planes in the left and right seat and I don't think that would bother me. What was it that scared you so much? MrT "Bill Hines" wrote in message ganews.com... I googled right after I posted and found it. Doesn't appear it was aerosaab (who seems to still be in business offering flights to the ruins, web site is easy to find). Nonetheless, I was pretty scared on that flight and I don't scare easy (travel for a living). The plane was small, just 4 passengers and the pilot/copilot. The one that went down was a larger one. Bill In article , says... I'm guessing it was the same plane. What a tragedy. It was full of U of Washington (or State?) Alumni on a group cruise. Have you tried googling for info. Maybe under Washington or Wash State. Is there a NG for those schools. Maybe someone remembers that terrible day. I'm sorry I don't remember the details. Maybe I'm blocking them out! MrTractor-------still thinks it was a great excursion - since he lived to tell the story. "Bill Hines" wrote in message ganews.com... Wow, we took the plane trip to Chichen Itza in 2/27/01, it was wit Aerosaab. Are they the ones who crashed? Any details? I was never so terrified in my life, for me or my family! |

Chitzen Itza Excursion
Thanks, Bill. I think the next time we go to Cozumel/Playa Del Carmen, we'll
try that excursion. I want to go back to CI and flying is definitely the way to go! Merry Christmas and a Happy and Well Traveled New Year! MrT "Bill Hines" wrote in message ganews.com... To be fair, I think it was mostly that it was such a small plane and not subject to the standards and checks that I am familiar with in the US. It was somewhat rickety but there's a pic on the aerosaab website, I'm pretty sure that's the one we were in (not sure how recent the pic is). The pilot was just jabbering furiously into the radio as we were taking off and it didn't seem to be working 100%. Since it was spanish, i have no idea what was going on and it was unsettling. But the flight over the jungle was nice, and especially the cenote that they took us to after touring chichen itza, it was awesome to swim in there and dive off the high rocks. I was just afraid that I had gotten my family into danger there, but we do tend to live on the edge a bit on our vacations, haha. Other than that, it was awesome to do on a one-day cruise stopover, really the way to go if you want to see chichen itza. El castillo (the main pyramid there) was magnificent, as was the ballcourt and really all of it. In article , says... Yes it was larger. Maybe 12 or so of us. I am thinking about booking a flight from Cozumel to Chechen Itza on
Aerosaab. Is this the airling you used and what was your experience? Are the planes really that bad? Kim |

Don't do it Kim. There is a reason the ship's don't do this anymore and that
is the safety factor. One of their planes even crashed about a year ago killing all onboard. Go to Chitzen Itza if you port in Progresso. Jim wrote in message oups.com... Kim -
We used Aerosaab in April 2002, and were very very pleased with them. The planes were fine, we had a pilot and a co-pilot. Once we got to Chichen Itza, we had a personal guide who was wonderful. In my 6 cruises this was by far the best excursion we have had. I highly recommend them and would do that trip again if I had the chance. Susan in Maine |
