Default Weather in continental divide area of Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho in June

My wife and I plan to take an extended trip for the entire month of June
next year in the continental divide area of the northern Rockies. I have
looked at lots of weather data with average rainfall etc. Based on that
data, it would seem that it would be a lot wetter and cloudier in June than
July. However I'd like to hear from some of you who have travelled in that
area to see if we would be making a mistake to do the trip in June.

TIA

Tough one. It's going to depend somewhat on exactly what valley
you're in. However, the beginning of June is basically the
"end of spring" so you probably will get a bit more rain. Dunno
about cloudiness when it's not raining. The only thing I'd
say about July is towards the end of July it could be getting
fairly hot in the low lands. Mid June to mid July might be the
most ideal. But you can always get pretty unlucky.

Drove from Toronto to Utah in June and went via Rocky Mountain National
Park. It was snowing on June 8th at the higher elevations. Granted this
is northern Colorado and not as far north as Montana or the Dakotas but
there is not that much difference in those mountains. Snow was still on
the mountains in northern Utah, just south of Idaho, when we arrived in
Ogden and drove up to Logan and Bear Lake, a week later. However all of
the roads other than those that climbed to the tops of mountains were
fine, with the snow gone in the main. When we left, toward the end of
June, we went by way of Yellowstone, and even then there was still snow
by the sides of some of the roads at higher elevations, particulary
where in the shade on the north side of any cut. We loved it where it
was cooler, and hated the heat when we got into the ovens of the
praries. Your milage may vary, of course, as no one can predict the
weather you will have. We are now planning our trip for next june and it
will be across via US 20 and then to the northern part of Yellowstone
before we head down to Ogden, and we do not contemplate any problems
with either snow or rain... but we too do not know what weather we will
run into.

I live in Southern Idaho - our weather is very predictable
HOT and dry for the most part. Yes, we do get some
rain - but generally its over in about 2 hours.

Southern Idaho temp in the summer - 90 and up. We don't have much humidity
so it doesn't really feel to bad.

Hope this helps.

I once went to Glacier NP in early June and the Going to the Sun road
was still closed due to snow. Be careful of the mountain passes on less
traveled roads as many are not plowed until mid to late June.
