I'm just back: there are enough ATMs to get through.
but beware the costs: they take 20.000 dong without prior notice and my
bank charged me 4,50 EUR on top.
I.e. Travellecheques in US$ are usually cheaper.

costs depend on your own bank, for example
abn amro bank charges 2,25 euro for every withdrawal
rabobank charges 0,00 euro

The figures I gave are for Deutsche Bank as a german customer.

Not all of them. The 20,000 dong charge is taken by the ATM itself.
So if you withdraw 500,000 dong, it will actually take 520,000 dong from
your account.
