Default highway in Serbia - anyone help?

Hello!

I'm going to ride (by car) across Serbia. I'm going to start in Hungary
(Szeged), then Subotica - Novi Sad - Beograd - Nis'. My question a
is the highway passable (I mean the quality of the route)? And is it
paid (any payment? how much?).

There's a nice new motorway for most of this route, so it's quite passable,
(As is the alternative road if you have a good enough map to follow it, as
the signs keep directing you back to the motorway).

It is tolled, I can't recall how much but not a significant amount.

Do not speed, the local police are very hot on stopping people - they hide
under the motorway bridges.

If travelling off season I recommend staying in Palic. It has a much better
choice of hotels than the larger cities (though they can be pricey in
season).

And in the Belgrade area I can recommend hotel Radmilovac in Vinca (15 Kms
to the South). It was the best hotel by far that I stayed in and reasonably
located for touring the area by car (but completely useless without it). It
houses a very expensive up market restaurant, but the hotel part charges
"normal" prices.

http://www.hotel.al/en/textversion.a...D=150&hID=1675
or
www.hotelradmilovac.com (A very horrible Flash site that my version of IE
refused to open)

I can't recommend anywhere in Nis, the place I stayed in was ****e (TBH I
can't recommend Nis at all - apart from a visit to the skull tower).

Outside the tourist areas (are there any?) finding decent accommodation in
Serbia is difficult. You drive around for ages looking for somewhere and
when you do find it there is a 90% chance it will be horrid.

Feel free to ask any more questions.
