Princess Cruise shipboard account question

Hi Doris, As a clarification they would refund any funds that she had left in her onboard account in which she had paid cash at the begriming of the cruise. Most cruise lines will give you a check at the end of a cruise for any onboard credits that you have left and not used although most passengers don't have that problem. :+) -- Ray Goldenberg 800-719-9917 or 805-566-3905 Lighthouse Travel http://www.lighthousetravel.com Follow us on Twitter http://twitter.com/lighthousetravl Follow us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/ray.goldenberg |

If you have any onboard credits you either use them or lose them. I'm sure they will refund any monies other than "nonrefundable credits". Therefore, if Marsha would deposit cash and not spend it all, she would get back the balance. As others have suggested, using cash rather than a card is cumbersome. Sometimes you get on-board credit instead of a refund, and sometimes you have other types of on-board credit like for owning stock or for booking while you were taking a preceding cruise. For on-board credit, you use or you lose. For cash that you put against the tips/service charges or whatever else you spend, you'd get the excess back. |

Instead of gambling with the money, just withdraw it from the casino and wander the casino for a while. Then pocket the money. They may charge you a few percent to do that, but better than leaving any money behind. |

I think we'll use some of the cash to pay for parking at the pier and put the rest away to pay the credit card bill. Thanks for all of your responses. Marcia |

For on-board credit, you use or you lose. Not true, at least not on Celebrity and/or RCL. There are refundable credits and nonrefundable credits. Your online (cabin tv) account will show an "R" or an "N" on the line with the amount credited. I didn't know that. I've only had one cruise each on those lines, and I didn't have any problem using any on-board credit in either case.grin For cash that you put against the tips/service charges or whatever else you spend, you'd get the excess back. Which is what Marsha asked about. The cruise line would really have to hate their customers to do what Doris implied. Right - That would cause a REAL uproar if they did that. |

Princess Cruise shipboard account question
If this thread did nothing else it established that there are no
universal truths regarding on board credits. On our recent Regents cruise we had a few dollars of on board credit remaining and they refunded it in cash at the pursers desk the night before we disembarked. |

Some of the parking lots only take cash (no credit cards), at least that was the case at the San Diego Pier parking in Oct, 2007. Tobieon an Island in the Pacific |

Princess Cruises cancellations Cancellations made before the date of departure will incur the following charges per person . Number of days prior to sailing cancellation 181 days or more refund ## 180 to 71 days Loss of deposit 70 to 43 days 25% of fare 42 to 15 days 50% of full fare 14 to 0 days 100% of full fare Non-appearance 100% of full fare In addition, friends had booked a round Australia cruise with Princess (in AUD) and were advised of a price increase due to fluctuation in the USD. So yes - heads they win, tails we lose! |
