Are there much diff between the lodges near Old Faithful/YellowstoneNational Park?
Looking to book a room near the Old Faithful for Aug 2007. For now,
there are rooms available in Old Faithful Inn, Old Faithful Lodge Cabins and Old Faithful Snow Lodge & Cabins. Are there rooms pretty much the same or there are advantages to book one over the other two? Thanks. |

Are there much diff between the lodges near Old Faithful/Yellowstone National Park?
The Old Faithful Inn is the classic National Park style hotel --
constructed of logs, giant fireplace inside with multiple level lobby. A historic treasure. Probably the most charming place to stay, with a variety of rooms in the original lodge and extensions. It has been in process of renovation for a couple of years, so should be up-to-date. The Snow Lodge is relatively new -- the present building is a modern (or maybe post-modern) version of a National Park hotel, built only a few years ago to replace the original motel-like Snow Lodge, nice rooms, good facilities. The Snow Lodge also has a set of cabins adjacent to it -- pleasant, clean, basic. The Old Faithful Lodge, like the Inn, borders on the famous geyser itself, with a central building with cafeteria, snack bar, lobby, gift shop, and sitting area with fireplace and windows on Old Faithful. Accommodation at the lodge is in cabins (pleasant, clean, basic, recently upgraded) that stretch from the main building to the Firehole River. Some have bathrooms with showers, others require you to use a central shower and toilet facility, all have sinks. Cabins are cheaper than rooms inside either the Snow Lodge or Inn. Also, cabins allow pets. So it's a matter of price, whether you want the classic hotel experience of the Inn (even if you don't stay there you can eat in the restaurant, have drinks, hang out, etc.), whether you are inclined to the rustic or the modern. All are equally convenient. We like the lodge because we travel with a dog; if we didn't, we'd probably pick the Inn. no e-mail wrote: Looking to book a room near the Old Faithful for Aug 2007.
