I knew a guy from Indonesia who is ethnic Chinese, but he has an Indonesian name, I think he is not allowed to use his Chinese name. Most Chinese who grew up in Indonesia probably does not know how to read or write in Chinese. most people in singapore don't know how to chew gum...... Nor do you. You have galvanized your stomach and brain by it. |

And what this got to do with 'travel'?
If you want to provocate a fight, do it elsewhere! ############### UUUUhhhhh.... Maybe because it was on a TRAVEL show? And if you TRAVEL there, it may be something you should be made aware of. I thought it was strange . I wasn't trying to "provoke " a fight. SORRY if it wasn't an idiot question about the best place to get Gellato in Rome. Maybe thats more your speed. BG |

yes it is still hard to find chinese books in indonesia. it has something to do with the political era in the past, the government didnt want to have anything that connect with the communism (in this case, mainland china) so they banned all that in chinese words, then they didnt allow anything that link with that including chinese names and chinese ritual. i studied chinese and my teachers had to smuggle few books from taiwan, hong kong and mainland china and the students would copy them. but if you see things nowaday, this present government is softer. indonesia now celebrate chinese new year, allow them to do their rituals. slowly i believe books and others will be okay in indonesia. have a nice day, anggraeni -- Posted via http://britishexpats.com |
