Acceptability of Short Pants in Italy?
Aside from churches (where I know they are generally forbidden),
what is the acceptability of short pants on men and women in Italy? I'm talking about nice-looking khakis, not exercise shorts, and not short-shorts. If it helps/matters, I'm particularly interested in the acceptability of them in Rome, the Amalfi coast area, Florence, and the Tuscan countryside. -- Rich Carreiro |

At least for St. Peter's in Rome, short pants are acceptable so long as they're the 'long' kind. -- Dan Stephenson Photos and movies from US Parks and all over Europe: http://homepage.mac.com/stepheda |

About as acceptable as men without a tie or women without elbow-length gloves in Los Angeles. -- Transpose hotmail and mxsmanic in my e-mail address to reach me directly. |

You can wear, here in Italy, what you want.
But, after, don't wonder yourself if the people laugh about you! :-) |

Acceptability of Short Pants in Italy?
Considering how our country is regarded with utter disgust over the atrocities committed by our president & his military in Iraq, we will consider Europeans to be extremely forgiving if the worst that happens to American visitors is we get a chuckle.

At least for St. Peter's in Rome, short pants are acceptable so long as they're the 'long' kind. I'd be careful here. Last June a man in our party was denied entrance to St. Peter's and he was wearing shorts that hit below the knee. He changed into jeans and he was allowed in. It depends on who is working that day. -- Dan Stephenson Photos and movies from US Parks and all over Europe: http://homepage.mac.com/stepheda |
