Carnival Liberty - Cruise From Hell
In article , Brian
wrote: I disagree about whose fault it is. The line paid for the ship and could have paid for more sound insulation. The builder isn't going to provide it gratis. Certainly it is the cruise lines responsibility. A sound insulation problem in design should have been addressed at a dry dock after the ship was built. Some issues don't get discovered until after the ship is delivered so they are fixed in dry dock. Passengers should not be subjected to excessive continuos noise in any cabin location. Another thing, even after looking at deck plans there can be issues that have nothing to do with cabin location. On one cruise there was an annoying noise in my cabin all the time. There was some problem with the pipes inside the cabin. Celebrity was able to move me to another cabin despite the sign at the desk about the ship being full and no changes possible. They even gave me a choice of three cabins! Of course that gave me warm feelings about Celebrity because they satisfied me. On Old Sarge's cruise the cruise line failed to satisfy. Because of this fail they are going to lose a customer. I suspect they could have found another cabin. There are usually a few last minute cancelations. -- Charles |

I challenge anyone to book Cabin 8319 or any one around it on either side of the ship and report back that they didn't hear any deck noise, noise so bad that it woke you up, unless of course you are a deep sleeper. I'll book it, you pay for it. I want to see your name and complaint vindicated, lol |

They asked me what they could do to make it right for me. I told them since it really wasn't their fault, just and oversight, they need not compensate me. I'll chalk that one up to being too stupid to research the cabin location, but then who would have known that those tables and chairs moved around the deck, and would make so much noise? I told them about my idea of putting rubber feet on the furniture on the wooden decks and I think they went for it. I already had my experience, I just don't want others to have to suffer the same thing. -- **U.S. Army Retired - USPS Retired** **Degreed in CS, BS, HBS** **Notary Public, State of Kansas** **Licensed for Conceal and Carry** |

You're a trusting soul, Sarge, even if you took the stance that Carnival is so inept at designing staterooms without the appropriate sound insulation, then you would have to reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaccccccch a long way to fathom once they were aware of their major design boo-boo, they were unable to fix the problem. Trust me. they knew and they know. I'll chalk that one up to being too stupid to research the cabin location, but then who would have known that those tables and chairs moved around the deck, and would make so much noise? My first NCL cruise was below a restaurant and I researched it but it never occurred to me that it would be like a bowling alley a 0500. I told them about my idea of putting rubber feet on the furniture on the wooden decks and I think they went for it. I already had my experience, I just don't want others to have to suffer the same thing. kewl. |
