Default (Unwanted) Windshield washing

On 01/14/2004 4:51 PM Rene N plucked Senior Frog's Magic Twanger and said:

Last summer, I was driving in downtown Vancouver, BC. I saw a car stopped
at a red light, and a person (a bum?) ran out to wash and squeegee the car's
windshield. I didn't catch the whole thing because I had the green light.
This was the first time I've seen this in real life (not in the movies).
- Has anyone else seen this elsewhere in their travel?
- What do you do in this situation? Do you pay the guy? How much?

I tell them to either wash my entire car or forget it. They are usually
so shocked by my response that the light turns green and I drive off
before they react.

What I'd like to know is what do you all do about the Mountain Lions who
decide they want to use your car as a chase lounge for sunning? Do you
drive off at high speed and get claw marks all over your car or is there
a more effective way of not ending up as an afternoon snack?
