Hi,
I am a Sri Lankan born Aussie..just returned from there..You sure must go to
Sri Lanka..Spend 2 weeks at Club Oceanic , Trincomalee..the sea is so calm
and the water warm even at 7p.m and 6 a.m..You don't need a Pool...Its yours
very people around at this time..Then there is Bentota..and the Cultural
Triangle, Yala National Park ..to see and photograph the Leopard and the
Wild Elephant..from Yala Village Hotel..Elephant Orphanage , Kandy..so much
to see..
I can arrange a 2 week Round Tour with car and driver for U$895.00
OR if you want to stay longer and try public transport

will help you to organise a 3 week stay at reasonably priced Hotels with
airport pick up and car where necessary.
Chanaka works for Nature Odyssey a specialised arm of Walkers Tours, a
reputed Tour Operator in Sri lanka.
Its best you spend a week on the Beach at Trincomalee..tasting Sri lankan
and Western Food and then tour The Historical sites ,kandy and the South..

I'm Australian. I generally travel alone.

I like mid-level comfort: 3 stars, taxis, some Western food, some local.
Touristy stuff and some relaxation around the pool. $AUD120 ($US95) per

day
after airfares and transfers is the normal budget.

I have enjoyed travelling in Thailand, India, Vietnam and The Philippines
because they are exotic and alive and fascinating and, most importantly,
cheap enough to allow me to experience, for weeks at a time, a couple of
times a year, a level of comfort I could not afford in Europe or North
America, or even here in Australia. Cambodia is coming up soon, but I am
already thinking about the trip after that .

Indonesia and Malaysia are obvious targets. A return to the Philippines
looks good. I'd go back to Thailand any time, but that's getting a bit
predictable.

Laos? Sri Lanka? Burma?

My dentist suggested Cuba (yes, I know that's not in Asia, but I'm

throwing
this open).
