BBC: Manchester Airport's body scanners scrapped
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...ester-19620981
I certainly didn't mind them, but do remember at least one poster here who objected to them. I suppose some people prefer being touched up... David I thought that since Britain was outside Schengen, it could do as it liked wrt scanners. I had heard Heathrow had scanners and refusing them meant not flying, but that they are now gone too? Has anyone out there flown from Paris/CDG to the USA recently, and can say what security screenings they have? -- Dan Stephenson http://stepheda.com Travel pages for Europe and the U.S.A. Call me strange, but I'd rather walk through a machine than be felt up by a security guard. David -- (*) of the royal duchy of city south and deansgate www.davidhorne.net (email address on website) "[Do you think the world learned anything from the first world war?] No. They never learn." -Harry Patch (1898-2009) Schiphol has a type of body scanner, like Manchester/Heathrow, you need to assume the position and the machine rotates around you, however, it does not show a 'naked' image like the Manchester/Heathrow scanners, it shows an androgynous human image with a small yellow square on areas the system has flagged up. Anyone can see this image, and I took a look myself as I was passing through, every single one of the buttons on the nine pockets of my jeans plus fly had set it off and I was duly called over to be wanded down and my pockets searched. Went through it only last week. |
