Stayover in Papeete
On my way to New Zealand I do have two nights to stay in Papeete (Pape'ete), Tahiti.
Could anybody recomment an inexpensive Hotel directly in Pape'ete or at the Beach. Muchos recuerdos y mas de la vida Alfonso |

Stayover in Papeete
I stayed at Ta'aroa Lodge in July, 2000 : http://www.taaroalodge.com ,
and enjoyed it. It looks like he's built a couple of bungalows since I was there. It has a view of Mo'orea and it's right on the lagoon. I spent hours paddling his kayak and swimming around in the lagoon. You can walk from the airport to the "Le Bus" stop and get on a bus going west and get off at PK18.2 (there is a little cafe there) and walk down the road to the left of the cafe. Ralph's dog will greet you at the end of the road. Actually, everyone's dog will great you . Ralph is a friendly giant raasta surf dude. Pape'ete has a few too many diesel trucks for my taste, but does have a certain third world charm, like the food market on the wharf at night or the fish market in town or the seamstress shops selling colorful tropic print fabrics.
