Bored, need help.
I'm gonna be in the San Francisco area in a few days and
I'm tired of looking for some place to stay. I guess I became a jaded traveler a long time ago. My usual B&B in S.F. (which was wonderful and was very near Leavenworth and Lombard Sts.) is no longer in business. Nothing I see turns me on much. There seems to be a lack of resorts in the Bay area, yes? Maybe I just haven't clicked the right places, I don't know. Can anybody recommend some nice place (I don't golf, so I don't care about that) that is not a complete rip-off, but has a good atmosphere and lots of room for running on the grounds? Many thanks. Oh, and I'm NOT gay. -- Regards, IM |

You can walk or motor down to Marina Green (maybe 1/2 mile or so) and run to your heart's content. I don't know where else in SF you can run, except of course, Golden Gate Park. On Lombard (called Cow Hollow around here) there's lots of nightlife, etc and it's pretty quiet at night in the hotels so long as you make sure to get a room not on the street. Hope this helps.. |

Have you looked at any of the motel-type hotels on Lombard street? I have checked only with Orbitz; I haven't seen anything too exciting. Maybe I should look some more. Like the Chealsea? I haven't been into the city of S.F. in over 10 years (I've had plane changes, visited Carmel after de-planing there, etc., since then though). I don't know where else in SF you can run, except of course, Golden Gate Park. I've never actually gone over there. What's it like nowadays. Didn't it used to be a little sleazy? I know some runners who've run there in the past. Thanks, it does. -- Regards, IM |

Hi-
Golden Park is beautiful, very safe during the day and mostly at night as well, varied- an absolute delight! Some of my favorite things to do with free time is to take a book and find a nice tree in the park to sit under, watch people, kids, dogs, runners, take a picnic, run, walk, visit the AIDS grove, the arboretum, the tulip garden in season, the Art Museum (which is closed now while they build a new one which is the most inappropriate, ugly building to ever be put in a park setting!), watch the lawn bowlers, ride a bike, rent a little boat on Stow Lake, and lots of other things. It's great for running, walking being totally alone or among lots of peole. It's huge and you can get whatever you want. Lots of it is left a little wild to enhance it's beauty. But sleazy? Anything but! Susan Susan ivy_mike I don't know where else in SF you can run, except of course, Golden Gate Park. I've never actually gone over there. What's it like nowadays.
